March 9, 2005 Update

Ok, so I have a few minutes at work and wanted to do a quick update.
So, when we last left off the spotting had subsided and I was waiting for my next appt on 3/3. Unfortunately, I had another spotting episode on Feb 28! This one appeared to be a LOT more blood, but still no cramps. I immediately left work and called the dr. He said pretty much the same as last time, but that if the bleeding didn’t stop by morning to come in for a scan. It did stop Monday night, but I still felt I should go into the dr. Luckily, they got me right in for a scan. Low and behold, there was the baby, moving all around! Baby measured right on target (7 weeks 5 days) and the heartbeat was 167!!!! Unfortunately, they did still see the clot! UGH!
The dr called me later that day and explained it was called a subchronic hematoma and explained a few more details and percentages for the outcome (he said depending on the size of it up to a 30% chance of miscarriage. He wanted to see me on the following Monday--mar 7, instead of seeing the midwife on mar 3.
Thankfully, I haven't had any bleeding or spotting since feb 28.
I went back in on Monday and he finally did my initial appt--the paperwork visit. He did an internal and said everything looks really good (NO sign of spotting, blood, etc). He didn't do another ultrasound but did his dr thing and said I was measuring right along where I should be. Although, he did say I need to gain weight—ideally 6 pounds before my next visit. I have been sick for almost a week now, so my appetite isn’t quite what it usually is, so I’m sure as soon as I start feeling better my appetite will return.
Oh and he FINALLY gave me a EDD, Oct 12. It was kind of funny, he asks if I have any other questions and I’m like um, can I get a due date? He’s laughed and says, I didn’t give you that yet? SURE!
I don't go back in until apr 4 now (and I see the midwife)...unless something happens. He said I may still have some spotting, but not to worry (so far so good). He said the spotting usually resolves by 16 weeks, if not they refer you to a specialist.
So, that’s basically where I’m at now.
